I’m Maria Alvarez. I opened Elm Street Coffee in 2019 because I wanted a place that served good coffee without the lecture. Our beans are roasted up in Altadena by a small roaster, and the pastries come from a baker two blocks away — so if the case is empty, blame the walk.

Out back there’s a patio with four tables, and yes, dogs are welcome. Most regulars order the brown sugar oat latte, and I won’t argue with them. Come by, sit down, and stay as long as the coffee lasts.
